Rio's Women's Tennis, regardless of their nearly all newbie team, earned their position as top contender in the Foothill Conference Championship sailing through their competition and remaining undefeated in conference matches. Along with having more than half of both single players and doubles players qualify for the Southern California Regional, the Rio Hondo tennis team also made it possible for Coach Karen Unger to be endowed with the title of being the Coach of the Year.

This is the second year that the Rio Hondo women's tennis team has brought back a championship, including praise from administration and other notable figures like interim President Manuel Baca; Ph.D.
