On Tuesday Nov 10 the Lady Roadrunners soccer team completed their conference play, closing the season with a (6-4-2) record.
The Lady Roadrunners finished a respectable third place overall in conference standings behind San Bernardino Valley College and Antelope Valley College.
If finishing third wasn't enough, the Lady Roadrunners also received their first Foothill Conference Most Valuable Player award in eight years. Rio Hondo Freshman Alex Marin was recognized by all of the Foothill Conference coaches.
On Nov. 3, a match against College of the Desert, the Lady Roadrunners came up on top and walked away with a 3-1 victory over College of the Desert, which would be their last recorded win of the season.
Coming off a win, the team looked confident as they faced off Antelope Valley College on Friday Nov 6. AVC came out with their a-game that day, being one of the top seeded teams in the Foothill Conference. AVC was able to grab yet another win, finishing the match with a 2-0 victory over the Lady Roadrunners.
On Nov. 10 the Lady Roadrunners faced off San Bernardino Valley College in a match that would decide it the Lady Roadrunners will continue onto the playoffs.
Last match of the season and the most crucial one off all.
In a tough game, it was SBV who walked away with yet another win. Finishing off the Lady Roadrunners with a 4-1 victory.
Rio Hondo Coach Jennifer Tanaka said, "We had a chance to get into the playoffs up until the last day of the season and that's where we wanted to be, "Looking back as the 2009 Lady Roadrunners season comes to an end, much growth is seen upon the athletes" says coach Tanaka.
As the season ends the preparation for next year begins, as Tanaka and staff are already preparing for upcoming pre-season and next fall.
