Rio Hondo and the American Society of Engineers and Architects (ASEA) will be hosting a Toothpick Building Contest on Feb. 16 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Upper Quad.
Local community colleges and high school programs will compete in the 3 hour event supported by ASEA and Rio Hondo.
Participants will have a designated 3 hour slot to build a structure using only round toothpicks and glue.
Structures will be judged on visual appearance and structural strength. Immediately following will be a Balloon Flight Contest.
Winners for both categories will be announced at the ASEA banquet in May.
