As the season draws to a close the Lady Roadrunners are looking to finish the season strong.

They took a big step forward in finishing the season strong by winning their last home game against the first place team in the Foothill Conference Antelope Valley College in four sets, 3-1 (18-25, 27-25, 25-19, 25-16) on Nov. 11.

"It felt fantastic. Our team played so fantastic tonight and everything we've taught them and worked on during the season finally gelled and clicked and we did it," said coach Teddi Esko after their big win.

Prior to the match, they had a little moment of appreciation for the sophomores on the team; Carrie Baltazar, Suzy Chavez, Delany Cosgrove, Ruby Lopez, Cambria Mendez and Sydney Wikkeling-Marotta. They were given a set of flowers from their head coach.

Before their game against Antelope Valley, Rio had two other games against San Bernardino on Nov. 2 and Mt. San Jacinto on Nov.  4. They split those two games with a win over San Bernardino 3-2 (25-21, 23-25, 13-25, 25-20, 18-16) and a loss to Mt. San Jacinto 3-2 (25-16, 25-14, 25-27, 17-25, 15-11).

"We started off the game really slow but we definitely turned it around and we pulled it out at the end 18-16 couldn't have got any closer than that", said Esko about their game against San Bernardino.

In the match-up against Mt. San Jacinto, they had a thrilling five game match with the Eagles coming up victorious. The Lady Roadrunners rallied back from a 2-0 deficit to take it to the fifth game.

"We were down the first game and the second game but we rallied back and got to the fifth game and we just started making some mistakes on our side", stated Esko about their game.

Next on the schedule for the Lady Roadrunners was  Victor Valley who they previously beat 3-0 on Oct. 21. They play their final game of the season on Nov. 16. "We are looking to go out there and finish our season with a bang", said Esko
