    Volleyball team finishes strong in conference play

    As the season draws to a close the Lady Roadrunners are looking to finish the season strong. They took a big step forward in finishing the season strong by winning their last home game against the first place team in the Foothill Conference Antelope Valley College in four sets, 3-1 (18-25, 27-25, 25-19, 25-16) on Nov. 11. "It felt fantastic. Our team played so fantastic tonight and everything we've taught them and worked on during the season finally gelled and clicked and we did it," said coach Teddi Esko after their big win.

    Tough stretch for Lady Roadrunners

    Volleyball team has lost three of last four games

    The Lady Roadrunners have lost three of their last four matches against Antelope Valley 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 28-26), College of the Desert 3-1 (22-25, 26-16, 25-20, 25-13), Chaffey 3-1 (25-15, 25-10, 12-25, 25-20) and their one victory over Victor Valley 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-22).

    The women's volleyball team's last match ended with a much needed victory over visiting Mt. San Jacinto in three sets (25-21,25-15,25-14) on Oct. 12. "First time home after two games on the road and two tough loses against two pretty good teams so coming back to Rio was a nice thing", said coach Teddi Esko

    One on One with Carrie Baltazar

    Carrie Baltazar is a sophomore on the Rio Hondo women's volleyball team. She is the setter for the Lady Roadrunners and one of the captains of the team. She graduated from Whittier High School and her dream school is San Francisco State but doesn't know yet where she will attend after Rio Hondo. 

  • Volleyball team wins Foothill Conference home opener

    The lady Roadrunners opened Foothill Conference play against College of Desert on Sept. 30 and won in a thrilling five game match-up 3-2 at home. The Roadrunners were off to a fast start, winning the first two games 25-16 and 25-14, but slowed down and allowed COD to even the match-up by winning the next two games 25-20 and 27-25.

    Women’s volleyball team 2011 preview

    "A fantastic year", were the words used to describe the women's volleyball 2010 season by head coach Teddi Esko. The team progressed after each game which helped them take second place in the Foothill Conference.  Team unity built over the summer and regular season was crucial to their success.
