Softball season preview

Last season's women's softball team had many sophomores, so not many players returned this year. Out of the six sophomores that they had, only one player from last year's team returned. "This year's team has a lot of enthusiasm … they have a lot of heart", said head coach Bianca Urquidi about this season's team. She also said, "They have a lot of heart, so when they go out there they actually play for each other." This team has high praise from their coach.

  • Basketball J'Qauandrei Ellis Battle of the Roadrunners

It was a Roadrunner eat Roadrunner type of match on Feb. 8. The Rio Hondo gym hosted a men's basketball Foothill Conference match-up against College of the Deserts (COD) Roadrunners. Even though Rio had hecklers from COD in the bleachers, they still managed to walk away with a win, 86-80.

  • Bryce Rutherford Rio battles but comes up short against Canyons

Rio Hondo's baseball team's first three games of the season are against teams ranked in the top 20 of Southern California. They matched up against number 11 ranked Canyons College on Feb. 4 at Rio and lost in a nail biter, 7-6.

  • Giants win Super Bowl 21-17

    A replication of a championship

The New York Giants were able to replicate their magic championship run of 2008 by, once again, beating Tom Brady and the New England Patriots 21-17 in Super Bowl XLVI to create another chapter in what has become a rivalry match-up for these two storied franchises. The Giants' defense was responsible for the first score of the game by pressuring Brady into an intentional grounding penalty inside New England's end zone to make the score 2-0 in the first quarter.
