Roadrunner basketball teams suffer defeats at hands of Mt. San Jacinto

Rio Hondo's men's and women's basketball teams lost in games to Mt. San Jacinto College Jan. 21 in the Roadrunners gym.
    
The men's team lost 75-56 to Mt. San Jacinto, which is in first place in the Foothill Conference with a 6-0 record and are 17-3 overall.
    
The Roadrunners fell behind 40-25 in the first half and never regained momentum.
    
Landon Mott scored 23 points for Rio Hondo, the only player with double figures as the Roadrunners fell to 1-5 in conference and 3-15 overall.
    
The women's team did not fare any better as it suffered a 22 point loss to Mt. San Jacinto, 73-51.
    
The Lady Roadrunners kept up with Mt. San Jacinto in the first half, trailing 31-26 at halftime, but could only score 25 in the second half to Jacinto's 42.
    
Renteria Liliana led the Roadrunners with 16 points and Aurora Torres added 10.  Evelyn Ramirez and Sandra Johnson each added nine points.
    
Mt. San Jacinto improved to 18-4 overall and 5-2 in conference, while the Roadrunners continued its losing streak in conference with an 0-7 mark and are 5-14 overall.
