Tanya Sakadjian's "Cat in a Window" is an acrylic on canvas painting highlighted with gold that lends a fantasy essence to this painting.

On Saturday May 2, the Reign Beau art studio hosted the Uptown Art Show. From art anime to live still photos, the variety of art displayed was very diverse. With the dim light setting and the live reggae band playing, it was easy to fall into the bohemian vibe of the art.

The art was not just on display but also for sell. The vendors and artists where Sandra Rubio, Nadine Castaneda, Adolfo Rodriguez, 'Sketch,' Jamie Rivera, Vanessa Chavez, Little Miss Cindy Pants, Irene Garcia, Luna, Tanya Sakadjian, Lunalesca, Albert Gomez, and Eddie Conde.

There were many familiar faces at the art show. The crowd was a young college crowd and amongst the crowd was the owner of the Reign Beau Pascale Romero.

There where many interesting paintings. One that stood out was the "The Melancholy Whore," an acrylic on canvas. The actual Melancholy Whore was in the movie Taxi Driver. The artist, Vanessa Chavez, made the painting black and white with some color. She stated that the Melancholy Whore is happy and sad.

Therefore, the black & white represents her sad side and the color represents when she's happy. This painting can represent how a lot of people feel, especially females that might seem confused and lost about life.

A very interesting artist was Lunalesca; her paintings were multi-media. These displays made you think out side the box, with very bright luminous colors that attract the eye at first sight. Some of her paintings also were Japanese influenced.

Jamie Rivera had photos on display that he took from Rio Hondo's fire academy. His photos showed the actual trainees trying to put out the blazing flames.

Overall, the Uptown Art Show was a major success. The Reign Beau focuses specifically on aspiring artist trying to display their views and hopes for the future through art.
