Crouching Tiger hidden point guard

Jeremy Lin invades the NBA

By Jeffrey Perez

From the sellout jerseys to the rejuvenation of New York Knicks basketball, Jeremy Lin has caused chaos in the basketball world during the past few weeks. Averaging at least 20 points and seven assists during his last six games (which have all been victories). Lin has provided the NBA with some much needed excitement after a dreadful delay with the NBA lockout.

Lin has also provided Knicks fans with optimism after being the laughing stock of the Eastern Conference for the past decade. The fact is Lin or "Linsanity" as the media has addressed him by, came with a peculiar story before ever suiting up for the Knicks. He is the first American born NBA player of Taiwanese descent to ever lace up. He is also only one of only four NBA players to come out of Harvard University.

Still not impressed? Undrafted two years ago and released by two teams before being signed by the Knicks, Lin was only signed as an insurance player due to the Knicks roster being washed-out by injuries. The fact is Jeremy Lin has had to face a lot of adversity during his journey into the NBA and has stayed humble given all his early success.

"It's not because of me, it's because we're coming together as a team," said Lin after hitting the game winning three against the Toronto Raptors.

Yes, there are a lot of people that might say it was against the god awful Raptors (9-23), but his best game came against the hometown Los Angeles Lakers (18-13) who rank 10ththus far on defense. He netted a career high 38 points while dishing out seven assists.

Don't get me wrong, by no means am I saying that Lin is a star but it is safe to say he has put up star numbers during his team's six-game winning streak. Not bad for a guy who was crashing on his brother's couch just a couple of weeks before and was on the verge of being cut.
