There are also reports that there have been calls and inquiries from worried staff, students and even a concerned parent regarding a recent article about Rio Hondo's accreditation review which appeared in the Oct.
The Wray theatre was standing room only as enthusiastic students and faculty gathered to participate in the much anticipated debate and discussion at the Election 2008 Discussion forum last Wednesday. Moderated by sharply dressed Political Science instructor Colin Young, the one-hour forum aimed to review various aspects the general election and California-specific propositions with the help of an expert panel.

Rio Hondo President/Superintendent Ted Martinez has been named one of the top 25 Latinos in Education by Latino Leaders Magazine, it was learned this week. Dr. Martinez, in his second year at Rio Hondo (he arrived here in June of 2007), said he was not aware of the honor until he opened up the magazine and "was pleasantly surprised.
Rio Hondo College's Child Development Center (CDC) recently hosted it's first of many Family Nights on Oct. 29. The nights presentations featured the experiments and lessons that the students themselves performed giving them a chance to share their knowledge and excitement with their parents and family members.
The Health Sciences Department at Rio Hondo held their annual open house on Oct. 30 for prospective and first year nursing students. The event hosted the friends and family of current nursing students and those planning to enroll. The nursing skills center in room S208 was laid out as it usually is, but with more of a tour feel to give family members and prospective students an idea of what goes on daily while in the program.
