Originally from the city of Nablus in the West Bank of Palestine, Malhis emigrated to the U.S. in 1979 at the age of 19 and as with all immigrants, was filled with fear of the unknown, anxiety at the separation and distance from her family and yet the promise of endless opportunities in America surpassed it all.
