The opening of Rio Hondo College's Art Gallery exhibit Sub-Urbane on September 14th was a huge success. All four of the artists whose artwork is on display spoke candidly about their work which reflects their views of suburban city life and its separation from nature.

"How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying"

In most cases succeeding in the business world involves politics and getting in good with the boss and those higher in command. In the musical "How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying" at the Whittier Community Theatre, the character J. Pier Pont Finch has a book that is the core of his plan to succeed as he reads and works his way up the corporate ladder.

'Beyond Hell'

Turns out that Gwar has released a new album called "Beyond Hell" which was released on August 29. Their main tracks are "Eighth Lock," "Go to Hell," and "War Is All We Know," along with a cover of Alice Cooper's "Schools Out." They stick and stay true to their lyrical style and content; addressing important issues like cops who beat you with huge sticks and going to hell on a roller coaster, with its additional and common main dose of violence and gory content.

Open Season for 'Feist'

Living out of a suitcase is nothing new to Leslie Feist, started her musical career in a punk band that played its first gig opening for the Ramones, then spent the proceeding five years touring the country, a whirlwind beginning that shredded Feist's vocal chords and nearly ended her life as a singer before it even really had a chance to get off the ground.
