It's not easy, believe us
Because of a recent opinion piece in El Paisano that was critical of the Associated Student Body, tempers and letters started to fly. Every two weeks the Journalism students of Rio Hondo put out a newspaper, by the name of El Paisano, in order to inform the people of Rio Hondo as to what is happening.… Post the First Comment

Rio Hondo's very own Red Square

Where is security when you need them?

Lingering in solitude, emptiness surrounds the dark creepy hallways as students come out of their classes at 10 p.m. while still trying to find their car in a lonesome parking lot. Walking through Rio Hondo late at night not knowing if you're going to be hurt by a coyote, a snake, or even a malicious person, I have to ask myself; where is security? When I walk around the campus I hardly ever see a security guard, but sure enough, during the day I see security guards driving around the parking lot giving parking citations, but that is all I ever see them do.… Post the First Comment

Dan's Den

Daniel's theory of ASB de-evolution
It seems that my last column created quite a stir. I wrote about some issues that I didn't agree with and that has angered a few people in the ASB. I'm not here to justify what I said, nor to submit a rebuttal against the letter writing campaign, which has come from ASB and the Honor Transfer Society.… Post the First Comment

Security keeps Rio Hondo safe and sound

The security unit for Rio Hondo Community College is not up to par with other larger colleges and universities, but still provides enough safety for the small campus of Rio. Though the security staff is not in abundance, the safety groups that we do have are comprised of tough and stern individuals.… Post the First Comment

The dangers of potential

It seems that most of the concern over the potential epidemic known as swine flu or H1N1 influenza virus, for those who are worried about political correctness, is subsiding. The three weeks or so of potential danger proved to be a spectacle of a congregation of news reporters and exposed the lack of knowledge and the misinformed knowledge of many people.… Post the First Comment

RE: Dan's Den Issue 5/01/09
Dear Editor, As the ASB Senate we were shocked and saddened by the accusations that were made by the co-editor in chief, J. Daniel Fernandez, recently published in the opinion piece "Dan's Den", on May 1, 2009 (Vol.45, Issue 13), in El Paisano. The opinions that were stated, regarding the ASB Senate, are not based upon facts but assumptions.… Post the First Comment

RE: Dan's Den Issue 5/01/09
To whom it may concern, I have over time, grown to become a very concerned individual in regards to the current spending of student's hard earned money. It's about time someone has decided to make his or her opinion and concerns known. Daniel's article has given me the courage to speak my mind in regards to the ASB's spending and overall service they provide to the students.… Post the First Comment

RE: Dan's Den Issue 5/01/09
Dear Editor, Ernesto Zumaya has been one of the best Student Body Presidents and his board has been a big support to him and have been so active and willing to help and plan every activity that has taken place this year. Ernesto worked weeks on getting petitions signed by the students at this College so they would not have to pay higher unit fees, a lot of his board helped him as well, they went to classrooms, day and night and went out on the campus at booths, day and night to have students sign letters that were sent to the appropriate senators, to help students.… Post the First Comment
