  • Schoolboy Q

The new player in the game

There's a new rapper on the scene with a lot of new attributes, like a mixture of Rap and R&B and adds a different flavor to the music. When I hear his music I feel pulled into someone else's gravity and life, he expresses himself with his affection. His philosophy is very different. He has a strange way of relating to the listeners. The CD is about women, drugs, lust, love and a fantasy world that School Boy Q  puts you in as you listen to the album.

  • Action, just action

Denzel Washington (Tobin Frost) and Ryan Reynolds (Matt Weston) combine their outstanding talents to create what could be best described as a mediocre film. "Safe House" provides what one would expect from watching the previews, a two hour extended cat and mouse chase scene. The film's plot is based around Tobin Frost turning himself in after years of selling government secrets, but the safe house he is in is attacked. This leads to Matt Weston, the rookie operative, to be forced to escape with the crook and remain alive.

  • ‘Indian School’ to release ‘The Cruelest Kind’

After having been out of the music loop for some time I decided to jump back in and see how my former favorite bands were doing. To my surprise my favorite punk band Audio Karate had disbanded and turned a new leaf. I now present to you "Indian School," with former Audio Karate members Art Barrios (vocals/guitar), Gabriel Camacho (drums), Justo Gonzalez (bass), and new members Anthony Leach (lead guitar), and Eric Wood (piano).

Lifestyle

  • Drinks Late night munchies

Affordable, late-night eateries are not very easy to come by. Either a cheap restaurant closes too early, or a joint that is open late is just too pricy for the average college budget. For those in need of a local 24-hour restaurant that will not make you eat your meal out in the cold of the night, look no further. Ordonez Mexican Restaurant on N. Garfield Ave in the city of Montebello offers a tasty, reasonably priced menu any time of day.

  • College student’s spending

School gets really expensive, but that doesn't stop college students from spending money on other things.  A lot of students blow money on going out, gas, clothes, shoes, food, and many things needed for everyday use. Many said they spend an average of $50 a month on food alone, and sometimes more. "A good amount of my money goes to eating fast food because I am always on the go," said Ashley Reyes.

  • College boy turns party boy

Joey Moncada attended Rio through 1991 and 1992 or as he better refers to it the "Golden Era" of a Rio Hondo Promoter. "Harvard on a hill," was a common phrase students would use years ago to refer to Rio Hondo. Not only did students have unique and catchy phrases but they had something we currently don't have, a college football team.
Many question what a football team really has to offer to students but to Joey "turtle" Moncada, a Rio Hondo alumni, it was and continues to be the foundation of his success.

Clarissa has been accepted into the Disney College Program.

  • Giants win Super Bowl 21-17

The New York Giants were able to replicate their magic championship run of 2008 by, once again, beating Tom Brady and the New England Patriots 21-17 in Super Bowl XLVI to create another chapter in what has become a rivalry match-up for these two storied franchises. The Giants' defense was responsible for the first score of the game by pressuring Brady into an intentional grounding penalty inside New England's end zone to make the score 2-0 in the first quarter.

  • Burrito blasphemy

Burritos are delicious; they're big, beefy, juicy, and filling. When one buys a burrito, one would expect to be served something enormous. A Burrito by all means should never be less than eight inches in length and about four inches in width. A Burrito is something that needs to be held with two hands and could give the appearance of being capable of feeding around two average sized people.

  • LA County beach laws

When you think about taking a trip to a beach for some fun, what comes to mind? A nice hot day, filled with people walking through the sand throwing Frisbees and playing catch simply out having fun enjoying the beach in all its splendor. It is routine that these are scenes which are expected to be seen upon arriving to a beach. Well, according to new beach regulations it is now against the law to throw around objects such as footballs, Frisbees and all balls for that matter

  • Death of occupy

Do you remember a couple months ago when all we could talk about was the ‘Occupy' movement? It was on everyone's mind and for the first time in a long time people were questioning authority. It was unlike anything I had seen before, because for once the people who were opposing the government weren't treated like complete loons.

  • Abusive teacher or abusive parents?

Rapes, murder, harassment, abuse, molestation all these terms either have a different meaning or people just don't care anymore. Recently there was a case with a teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District, "molesting" little girls from ages 6-10, telling them to eat cookies with semen after blindfolding them.

  • Marriage equality for all

If Kim Kardashian can marry twice and only for 72 days, why can't gays marry too? The U.S. appeals court in San Francisco ruled on Feb. 7 that Prop 8, which limited marriage to a man and woman was unconstitutional. I believe we all have a right to marry whoever we want for however long we want. The Declaration of Independence states that "We are all created equal" and that we all have "The right to the pursuit of happiness."

  • Dancing to the beat of hypocrisy

A revolution begins in various ways and for various reasons. There are leaders, culprits, and many painful stories behind every revolution. On the surface, the stories are always different, but the catalyst is always the same: a group of people, tired of oppression, who have been so tormented by their oppressor that they are willing to risk their lives and the lives of their loved ones in order to restore normalcy-whatever normalcy to them may be.
