What's so exciting about vampires? Don't get me wrong, I dig the whole blood sucking thing because I enjoy unworldly characters just like werewolves and monsters. In fiction stories that is.However, there has been an increasing hype over vampirism from all forms of media, it seems that big TV and film industries are jumping on a money train to feed the popular demand. Vampires are good money.
While vampires are becoming good business it is also becoming an overrated idea. I don't think the idea of vampires will ever die, because they've been around for several years, but the idea of what vampires are becoming because of what people perceive them to be. I mean to focus on a specific group of people, the Twilight fans.
There is a lot that has come out for Twilight fans, from bed sheets, jewelry and even cook books.
Fans are into everything and anything that is Twilight related. It maybe good business for a love story between a vampire and a human, but the book changed in people's mind what vampires where all about.
Vampires are essentially scary deadly creatures of the night. They are non-humans that look human and feed on human blood. For the most part vampires have had a negative cognitive and have been the main villain of stories.
Vampires have been romanticized unlike before. This is true not only in Twilight, but also in the HBO series "True Blood" and CW's "Vampire Dairies".
The vampire creature can love a human and will go over any length to protect that person. It's an idea that many are falling for. And for that matter the vampire is always this beautiful person and with sexual appeal.
This new spin on vampires has romanticized creatures is different to what I've always known vampires to be. How long will this last? Will vampires turn to friendly creatures of the night? I hope not. I'm not a big fan of horror anything, but vampires as blood-sucking demons are the classic norm that I've always enjoyed.
